I have been raising the Channa bream for two years.

Today, I cleaned the aquarium of my brontosaurus and realized that I have kept this brontosaurus for more than two years. In fact, I was deceived from the beginning of raising brontosaurus. The difference between the actual product and the seller’s display is really big. However, for Mingyue who likes to watch fish, it doesn’t matter. It was just an attempt. After all, it was the first time to raise a brontosaurus. The main purpose was to keep it alive during the growth period. At present, this goal has been achieved. Although there were originally two brontosauruses, one of them jumped out of the aquarium, leaving only this one, which was about 7 cm at the time.

Now the desktop tank that I bought at that time can no longer accommodate this fish. This fish alone has already occupied an entire 50-centimeter aquarium!

When I bought it, the seller claimed it was a “Red Moon Pearl Brontosaurus”. After raising it for about three months, I was basically sure that it was just an ordinary Channa bream, a close relative of the black fish that we prefer when eating pickled fish. Fortunately, it has patterns and tail fins, so it is also ornamental. The toughness of this species is really beyond words. It can be said that Mingyue has been raised in a rough way in the past year or so. The filter is manually switched on and off, and there is no heating equipment. I basically feed it when I remember to, and I don’t remember to feed it when I don’t remember. I occasionally turn on the light and use a teaser mirror to tease it. Many times I forget that there is a Channa bream in the fish tank.

Just like that, it has grown to nearly 15cm in length, and its appearance and condition are very healthy. If it is hungry for a few days, it can still be teased. It will interact with you, but it is basically an offensive interaction. I used to buy abalone fish food to feed it, but now I basically feed it with koi fish food. I feel no difference, and the palatability seems to be better. This thing can really eat and poop. Fortunately, it prefers a stable environment with old water, so water changes don’t need to be so frequent. Basically, when cleaning the bottom of the tank every half a month, you can pump out the water and add new water. It is hardy, easy to raise, and interactive, which is pretty good!
